MA12-66-920
Detect close-range obstacles: When you’re parking or moving slowly (under 10 km/h), the sensor sends out invisible signals. If the signals hit something (like a curb, another car, or a shopping cart), they bounce back to the sensor. The S7’s computer then calculates the distance to the obstacle.
Warn you with sounds/lights: When the obstacle gets too close (usually under 50 cm), the sensor triggers a beep inside the cabin (faster beeps = closer obstacle) or a light on the dashboard. This lets you stop in time—no need to crane your neck to see tight spots.
Support low-speed collision avoidance (some variants): If the S7 has automatic emergency braking (AEB) for low speeds, this sensor works with other systems to trigger the brakes gently if you’re about to hit something (like a parked car) and don’t react in time.
Fits These: All Haima S7 variants (matches the bumper’s mounting slots, signal frequency, and computer compatibility—confirm with VIN).
Won’t Fit These:
Non-Haima vehicles: Even if it looks similar, their on-board computers and bumper sizes differ (no functional fit; may damage the car’s electrical system).
S7 with modified bumpers: Aftermarket bumpers (e.g., sporty or off-road ones) lack the pre-drilled slots—original sensor can’t be installed (or needs cutting the bumper, which ruins its look).
Prep: Techs remove the S7’s front/rear bumper (or a small section) to access the old sensor’s wiring, disconnect the old unit, and remove its mounting clip.
Install new sensor: They snap MA12-66-920 into the bumper’s slot (using the mounting clip), plug in the wiring connector, and reattach the bumper.
Calibrate: They use Haima’s special tool to sync the sensor with the S7’s computer—this sets the correct detection range and eliminates false alerts. They test it by moving a small object near the bumper to confirm the beep works.
Clean the sensor surface weekly: Wipe the sensor with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, mud, or bug splatters—dirty sensors send weak signals (may miss obstacles).
Check for damage after bumper hits: If you bump the bumper (even lightly), check the sensor for cracks—broken housing lets water in (kills the sensor).
Avoid painting over the sensor: If you repaint the bumper, don’t paint the sensor’s front—paint blocks signals (sensor won’t detect anything).
Test it monthly: Turn on the S7’s parking assist mode, slowly drive toward a curb, and listen for the beep—if there’s no sound, have the sensor checked (may need re-calibration).
