Chery A13 Piston (0.25, Part No.: 477F-1004020BA)
1. Its practical function: to power and seal the combustion chamber
It completely changes the operation of your A13 engine. Here are its four main functions:
Compressed air-fuel mixture: When the piston moves upward (i.e., the "intake stroke"), it compresses air and fuel into a tiny space at the top of the cylinder. This squeezing makes the fuel burn more powerfully, thereby helping the engine run more efficiently.
Convert fuel into driving power: Once the compressed mixture is ignited (" power stroke "), the piston will gain strength from the fuel explosion and push downward with force. This downward movement causes the crankshaft to rotate (through the connecting rod) - basically converting fuel into the power to drive the car.
Keep the combustion chamber sealed: The piston has a small ring (installed in the groove around it), which is tightly pressed against the cylinder wall. These rings can prevent high-pressure gas from leaking around the piston - if the gas leaks, you will waste power and burn more fuel.
Install and maintain it (only the advantages are provided - Engine safety is a big issue!)
Installation: Only certified Chery Technology Company can achieve this
Installing pistons requires absolute precision - if you do it yourself, you'll ruin your engine. Here's how professionals handle it:
Preparing the cylinder: First, technicians grind the 477F cylinder of the A13 flat (this is called "honing") to make it perfectly fit the 0.25mm super-large piston, ensuring there is an appropriate clearance. Then they clean the cylinder to remove any metal fragments.
Assemble the pistons together: They insert the piston rings into the grooves (make sure their spacing is correct), insert the piston rings in (connect the pistons to the connecting rods), and then apply engine oil to the piston rings and the piston rings.
Put it into the cylinder: Using a piston ring compression tool, they gently place the piston into the cylinder so that the piston rings do not bend. Then tighten the connecting rod bolts according to the specifications recommended by Chery.
Testing the engine: They reassembled the top of the engine, started the A13, and checked two things: They used a compression tester to ensure there was no air leakage and listened for strange noises - just to make sure the piston moved smoothly.
Take care of it: Keep the piston running for many years
Use the correct engine oil: Always use the engine oil that Chery says it should be used. The appropriate thickness can keep the piston and ring lubricated, which means less wear.
Change the engine oil in time: Old engine oil contains viscous substances that can scratch the skirt and ring groove of the piston, causing the piston to die faster.
Don't let the engine overheat: If the engine overheats (for example, when your coolant is insufficient), it will cause the pistons to bend and the seals to become disordered. This will lead to leakage and power outages.
Check the compression condition every year: If the compression drops, it indicates that the piston rings are worn. Fix it as soon as possible so that the piston itself won't be damaged.
